Descripbe your "bad bird Box"

Hi everyone,

jsut wondering what is your setup for your grey's time out box

mine is a small dog carrier with nothing inside
no perch, no water,no food, no toys

we put ajax in there 5-15 mins when he bites us (the time depends on how hard he bites us)

i've read on some articles to no put a perch in it

but my problem is, when i take him out he steps in his poo

it's not gross but i'm worrie he might of stepped in his poo and preen his feet whil ein the box

but when we take him out, we wash his feet

so wonderng if u have a perch in your "bad bird box"

i read that putting them bak in the cage is not a good idea

as there are toys food and water in there for entertainment

anywho

just wanna see what other ppl's set up is like

When he matures is he possibly going to see the box as a nest box since it is a dark enclosed space? (thus becoming hormonally triggered) That was my first thought reading your post. I've seen Barbara Heidenreich speak and have read many of her articles and she says that a time out should be very short, just 5 or 10 seconds. His biting could be a last resort as a form of communication. Pay attention very closely to his body language so that you can prevent the bite and prevent his frustration so that he doesn't have to resort to biting.

I don't use a time out method for Izzy, it would never work. He's a plotter and grudge holder and can outlast me. I just tell him "Behave or NO outside, mister!" and he re-thinks being a git. He desperately loves his morning on the porch while I drink coffee lol.

Here's his favourite place! He's king of the porch lol.

I would be concerned about the time out box for reasons mentioned above.

No, he can't fly away, he's wing-clipped. We don't leave him out there alone, and he's far too lazy to attempt taking off. Our front yard is like a park, the house sets pretty far back from the street, so even if he did fly off the perch there, he'd just land on the rest of the porch that you can't see in the photo. He's fearless though, and if he gets startled, he turns and confronts the scary thing versus fleeing, then decides if it's worth his effort to move. ...Usually it's not. LOL

hm..........

well then i dunno how else i could put him to time out

saying no doesnt work

putting him on the ground and ignoring him doesnt work (he just waddles around on the ground and play)

we do pay a lot more attention to him when we have him with us or on us

he doesnt show any body language of biting

ajax is generally a very good natured boy
but jsut liek everyone he has cranky moments
