I have a question tho, is the breeder taking steps to clean off baby after feeding? he looks caked in food, and not sure how good that is for his health...I just wanted to throw that out there so you can ask.
He shouldnt have all that caked all over his body, because it is actually pulling feathers as if someone was pulling your hair. It has to be very uncomfortable for him.

Welcome and congratulations on your new addition. My CAG has that same exact cage and she loves it.

DNA testing is not all that expensive. I believe I paid less than thirty bucks to have Iris (my CAG) sexed, just FYI.

Best Regards.

Well, every week when we see him he just has new food on him hehe, so what we see is just the morning feeding. She does clean them, but the aviary we go to have over 100 baby birds to feed, and I think she does it all. That and she was telling us that they were trying new wood shavings instead of thier usual wood chips .. which she said she's discovered are quite a mess. Those pictures are pretty much taken when we first get there, we're too excited and take them as fast as possible. I do tend to clean him as best I can while I'm there.

ok, thanks for letting us know. What ya might wanna do, is try to remove some with a moist warm towel. It gets so hard and clumpy, and I know it must be hurting him. If you pull at it, it will be like someone pulling on an individual hair on your head and will hurt. But if its not cleaned off it will damage his feathers, and the grey feathers will just grow over the matted mess.
no different than a dog bein matted. He could get skin infections, and could be the start of a problem if not addressed.
I relize she might have alot to do, but a healthy baby is all about quality, not quantity.
I just want your baby to be happy and healthy. Please know I am not trying to be mean, just sharing what I know with you.
here is my sydney when he was being hand fed(by me)

feeding sydney

Lisa it looks like a 5cc syringe you're using to feed with. when my TAG was being handfed they used about a 20-30cc. Does it make a difference?

Naw, doesnt matter. Thats what I was given. I think it was a pretty big one, but dont remember the size. That was taken almost 6 years ago.
He was only on one feeding when I took him, and he was eating on his own for some time prior to coming home.
