Bela Update: Bloods came clean

It is late and I barely have the mindset to update everyone, but I feel the need as you have been kind to keep on her although most of you barely know her.

Despite all of this drama, I have tips that may benefit other readers here.

Proving just how sensitive these birds are, anyone who thinks they are doing a great job and their bird is the poster bird of all birds will find themselves, at one point, with a reality check. More humiliating is the kind way in which you see your vet questioning what you do and what is going on. I will post my thoughts/findings/scientific facts, but after a night of much needed sleep. It will be somewhat long, I warn you in advance, but it is the unveiling of what I believe caused this unfortunate situation and how to turn that negative behavior and use it against itself into desired behavior. (not trying to get "deep into thought", and I know it won't apply to all, but if it's helpful to one person, I can walk away feeling better about things.

As my attempt to end this on an happy note, she has gone down to losing about 60 feathers a night to about 12 last night. I went to work today, came home and no apparent signs of feather pulling...well, I may have just given it away - she wanted me out of the house and back to work.

Ok, g'nite for now

Oh, I'm so glad she's healthy!!

As a mommy of a plucky redhead, I know exactly how you feel everytime someone asks you "what's wrong with your parrot?" I want to give them my vet's phone number, as she convinces me every time I go that I AM a good bird mommy.
