11 year old CAG????

So, my husband and I have been wanting to add a CAG to our flock......mainly me I have a chance of getting one that is almost 11. The girl who is rehoming has good reasons to do so, as she is going away for schooling and wont have the time as she will be out of the country for the 1st year. She has had him since he was about 3 months old and she was feeding him. My concern is, though she has had him, he is more drawn to men, and this would be my bird. Is he going to be depressed from the change? Should I worry about plucking? I am concerned because my husband works during the day (and if he prefers men) I dont want to stress him out by being with me for the day.............. Should I go for it?????????? ty in advance

Think

I would think about whether you want a bird for you because I dont know how your other birds are, but if they favor your husband and you really want a bird for you then maybe not. I know when we got Goose it was his idea and I was all for it but he really wanted Goose to like him and be attracted to him but he wants nothing to do with him when I'm around. He still wont let him scratch his head, but the macaw in the local pet store will regurgitate food for him and the owners say hes the only one that can pet him like he does.

Send a message via AIM to Tom Lawless
I would visit the bird and see what kind of connection you make with him. Meeting you might also make the transition into a new home easier for him.
