oh how heartbreaking! i'm still grieving the loss of "my lovie" who passed a couple of months ago. actually, i had to re-home her which broke my heart and i know she was in a good home but one day the new owner woke up and found her at the bottom of the cage! she had a necropsy done and it appears she just hit the cage somehow and it startled her to the point of death. i still kinda feel responsible cause i think "what if i would've kept her she would still be alive". but i know i can't keep thinking that..but it is hard. i still have trouble even reading or seeing other posts about lovies cause it still hurts. sorry to go on, but just want you to know how sorry i am, especially to be there when it happened.

The groomers were so apologetic and offered me to get any other baby bird they get for me, but i just want her back. I miss her so much. I can't believe she left so fast. She's not supposed to die. I feed her all organic and get regular health checks from the vet. I raised her from a 3 week old in an incubator, took her everywhere. I feel like a piece of me is gone. I love her so much.

Grieve as long as you need. Don't do anything rash or sudden. If it was their fault and they offer you another fid, accept it. But when you are ready. Another will help you with the hole in your life. Just not right away. There is nothing that can change what happened and nothing can keep you from feeling what you are feeling. You can however make it better or worse. I suggest make it better. In order to do that you need to grieve. You need to feel the loss and all the emotions that come with it. Just don't dwell on revenge or the bad feelings and try to focus on the good times you had with you lossed one. What you will miss the most and what loved about him/her.
Then once oyu have come to terms with your loss you should fill that hole with another and offer him/her the same love that you gave the other. Doing that will help you remeber your loss for all the good s/he gave you and help you deal with the pain of the loss.
My heart was shattered by what happened. I cannot begin to describe what I would be like in that situation so I only gave advice that I would want someone to give to me. I don't expect it to help and can only hope it didn't hurt.
I am very sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had a finch (actually hand trained) that died in my hand after getting startled.

I'm glad that you are having testing done to see what went wrong. It just seems a bit strange/suspicious to me that the groomer would be offering to get you any baby bird that you want.

I am so sorry for your loss. Hopefully the necropsy will bring some relief in knowing exactly what was the cause for your little ones untimely passing. I will include you in my thoughts and prayers tonight. Please take care and dont blame yourself. Let us all know what comes back when the necropsy has been performed. Can I ask, where are you located?

I am sure they feel just horrible too & to offer her a baby of her choice is the least they could do. And to have the necropsy done is admirable, b/c it could very well point to them.

I am so sorry for your loss. We lost a grey & I honestly never thought we'd get another, but we did & I am really glad, but it wasn't right away.

I am SO SORRY to read this. This is heartbreaking.

Oftentimes birds can go into a seizure during grooming. That is one reason I do not believe in towels. You can feel the breathing patterns and keep an eye on the bird's physical appearance.

Please keep us posted and, again, I am so terribly sorry.

I just wanted to say how sorry I was. It sounds like you did everything right for all of the right reasons. It sounds like you brought her to good and capable people. It is terrible the way it turned out. No one intended for any of this to happen, whatever happened. Grieve the loss because it is a significant one but don't bury yourself in guilt. It's unfair to you. You are a good and responsible owner and you should take comfort and pride in that and remember the love you gave her and she gave you.
