Question Not unless I do

I was wondering about Goose and his eating habits besides his pellets he doesnt seem to think it's ok unless he sees me eating it first and I tried The Missing Link in some oatmeal and of course he knew it was there because I wasnt eating it. I also feel like when I give him veggies or fruits he tears them up more than eating them. There are a lot of things I try not to give him too much of but it just seems like I cant get him to eat healthy foods unless I am eating them, and I know the easy soulution would be to say well let him eat them while you are, but it seems like other peoples greys eat the veggies or whatever it is because they like it not because their owner is eating them. He just doesn't seem to like healthy foods on his own. Wondering if anyone has advice for helping him to like foods without me eating them.

When I was teaching Ziggy to eat other foods at first, I had to show him that I llked eating it...and then he'd tear apart a carrot or grape, etc. I am not sure what my mum did while he was with her for six months because of my deployment, but now he relishes his veggie bowl. When it's something new, he likes seeing myself or my hubby eat it first and then he goes for it. I don't know if it's the fact that I am saying "Yum yum" when I present the food to him or if it's the fact that he knows we like it so he'll eat it. I wish I could be more helpful other than sharing my experience. Maybe make it into a game of some sort? It's worth a try, right?

Parrots are social eaters. They like to eat with or along with their flock! I think that makes a difference also when they see us eat something first...then they want it
