Thanks everyone. I'm pretty sure he's plucking. He has lots of lovely pinfeathers coming in on his chest, so fingers crossed. Aloe vera juice, huh? Where do I get that? He has an appt. for the vet on Thursday for a checkup. Today I'm sending in a blood sample to avian biotech to have him sexed, tested for PBFD, and Chlamydia. The vet will do a stool sample, and anything else she deems necessary. Saves tons of money to send the sample to biotech, though, and I get the results MUCH faster. He is very, very sweet, despite his nervousness. And he hasn't vomited again, that I can tell.

I always get so anxious when I bring a new bird home. And I imagine all kinds of horrible diseases. He is amazing, though. He was only $400, and that included a cage that is actually of appropriate size! He has already imitated some kind of songbird, imitated my dog's barking, and said about a half-dozen different words, not to mention the constant beeps and other sound effects. He is exactly what I wanted--if only he is healthy!

I cut his toenail a teeny bit too short. All that is required is a small circle of blood about the size of a large pea. They told me that's all they needed for the three tests. Sent a cloacal swab too for the Chlamydia, just in case.
