pad locks are a great idea. You can't find anything better. Get a keyed pad lock. Locker locks aren't that good because what if there was an emergency and fire dept etc needed to get them out. They don't know the code.

Keyed pad locks are the way to go!

I was thinking of key locks as well. I can keep them hanging close to the cage. We may even need to lock the where the food doors open b/c of the way HQ makes their cages.
Thanks so much for all the input. It is sooooo helpful, especially when you want to do things the right way!!!!!!!

If your going to lock the doors than you need to rethink the cages with the solid food doors. They are EASY to open and very difficult to find a way to lock. Matter of fact Im having this trouble now and hubby has to drill holes in the doors to find a way to lock them. My grey goes around and opens all the outside latches while he is out and if your not paying close attention he then just opens them to get out when he is in. Mr smart cookie. It is provoing a pain to find a way to lock those feed doors without having to drill and compromise the powder coating.
A smart skinny beak can even open them from the inside.

Well, we've decided on the 67hx24dx36l and I'm really happy with that decision. It has to be ordered, but I can't wait to start decorating the nursery!!!!!!!!

Besides our special abled CAG, all of my mom's greys loved the combination of vertical and horizontal bars. They liked to slide down the vertical bars to get to their foot toys and such.

I like the open top. Out of curiosity, why aren't you considering a closed playtop version? That way you could get the versatility with the security of a closed top. Just my 2 cents.

Oops I just realized that on page 2 you wrote that you already ordered one. My bad!

I have that exact cage (on the left, open top) for my CAG. I always have the top open and she loves it. It's a wonderful cage.

hi drheather....I really liked the idea of all horizontal bars. I had read that greys do much better with horizontal vs. vertical bars and I also thought the cage was beautiful. Unfortunately, it's not made with a solid closed top. Even though I said we'd keep it closed, I think there will be times we'll have it open and see how "he" likes it.
