Her "talk training" time is when my bf has to "step into the office" (aka hang out in the bathroom for about 15 minutes) and he takes her in there and talks to her. Poor thing, I thought strong fumes were dangerous to birds, lol!
That's hillarious

I know I've read you aren't supposed to teach them to whistle first, but everyone is just so excited, ok, alright, i am just so excited to communicate that I did start whistling and soon enough so did Martini. So maybe I slowed down her talk time because of the whistling or maybe she'll take a little while to learn and maybe not speak at all, she's a dear bird, so certainly not talking isn't a deal breaker!

Seems like there is a wide range reported anywhere from 4 months on up. She's a real cuddle bird, so I'm grateful for that.

Echo was about 5 months old and I think he said his name first then echo da birdie was next then he started barking and of course the whoo whoo when he is playing upside down. Then it has gone down hill from there since I taught him to shout "hay who farted" sometimes fart is the word of the day and all I hear is fart fart fart. and of course "Echo farted"

I will have to sit and wright down all the words he says now. I would say he has about a 50 word vocabulary so far.

Well, let's see...
Ziggy did the cat call whistle at about 5 days when I finally took him home, and he was approximately 4 months old. From there (he's now 14 months):
Hi/Hiya
Oh boy
Boodie Boo
How are you?
Come here/Come here BooBoo (thanks to my mum who'd call the cat for dinner...it's his fave phrase)
Can whistle "Flavor Flave", the part in Cinderella where the song birds wake her up in the beginning (or tries to) and "Bridge over the River Qui"
I love you
Yaarh (Like a pirate)
Makes a squeaky door noise and a bubbling water noise
What are you doing?
I swore I heard him say "boobies" today...I blame my husband for that one
Ow
Ut oh
And I can tell he's going to say more...starting to mumble new things, so who knows what he's going to say!
