Question More responsibility??

Hello everyone, I just have a quick question to ask. Do B&G macaws require more responsibily then African greys??

what do u mean responsibility?

in what?
food?cage?toys?etc...etc...etc...
ive never owned a B&G but i did hand raise one as i use to work at a pet store

it is also how u raise them as a baby
just like greys , they can also be a velcrow bird

i would have to stay more caution is taken with b&g when buying cage and accessories due to their iron man beaks

When I say responsibility, I mean is it harder to take care of it over all.

All birds require a lot of work and attention ... deciding to bring a parrot into your life is a big commitment ! African Greys could also chew your furniture, they are very intelligent and need lots of stimulation... You where very quick to change your decision from a B&G to an african grey.. maybe you should do some more research and decide if a bird is really for you.. and if you will still want him after the novelty wears off. Have you ever had a bird before?

No, i've never had a bird before, and I found out that B&G macaws arent the best decision for your first bird. Thats why I chose to switch to a smaller bird.

If you want a smaller bird that is not going to destroy the furniture and is easier to care for then an African Grey is not a good choice. Why don't you get something like a cockatiel or parrotlet. Or better yet, read about the different types of birds in the forums on here and see if there is a smaller bird that catches your interest. There are many, many different types of birds that make great pets.

I'd have thought the responsibility was equal regardless of the type of bird.

Surely it's a huge responsibility literally having the bird's life, happiness and well-being in your hands??

I'm well aware of the enormous responsibility heading my way when I bring my Greys home. If at any stage I'd felt myself looking for an 'easy' option I'd have given up the idea of having a bird completely as that is not what it's about.

Yeah I Highly Reccomend Doing Your Research
I Researched On A Daily Basis And Visited Endless Articles, forums And Red Multiple Books And Spoke To A Lot Of Ppl Who Had Parrots

We Still Wanted A Grey (at That Time I Already Thought I Wanted A Grey But Wans't Sure But A Bird Of Some Sort)

Anywho About A Year Later We Got Ajax...

ALSO U GOTTA BE SURE THAT U ARE FINANCIALLY STABLE TO SUPPORT THESE BIRDS

I KNOW ALL THESE REPLIES SOUNDS "HARSH" BUT I USE TO WORK IN THE PET INDUSTRY FOR ABOUT 10 YEARS AND I'VE SEEN COUNTLESS PPL WANTING AN ANIMAL ON IMPULSE AND THEN A YEAR LATER I SEE THEM SELLING IT BECAUSE THEY HAVE "NO TIME" OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT (I SAW A LEOPARD GECKO THAT WAS ON SALE AND THE GUY SAID HE DIDN'T HAVE TIME FOR IT.. THO IT TAKES A TWICE A WEEK OF POOP SCOOPING AND OFFER IT FOOD EVERY OTHER DAY AND OF COURSE FRESH WATER DAILY... SERIOUSLY HOW MUCH TIME DOES THAT TAKE? I GUESS SOME PPL RATHER SIT AND WATCH TV FOR 30 MINS THEN TAKE 10 TO FEED AND CLEAN THEIR PETS)

OKOK ENOUGH OF MY RANTING

THE FINANCIAL ASPECT IS THAT
U COULD BRING YOUR PARROT IN FOR A "REGULAR VET CHECK" AND IT COULD END UP COSTING U 500$ INT HE END..

THAT HAPPENED OT USE WHEN WE BROUGHT AJAX FOR HIS WELNESS CHECK
THE BREEDER WAS UNETHCIAL (AJAX WAS SEVERLY UNDERWEIGHT;IF HE LOST 10 MORE GRAMS HE WOULD BE STAYNG AT THE VETS, BREEDER'S BAND WAS TOO TIGHT AND WORSE OF ALL HE HAD MISSING TOES)

IT'S SOMETHING TO SEIROUSLY THINK ABOUT.. IT'S BASICLLY LIKE HAVING A KID THAT NEVER GROWS UP AND MOVES OUT...
KIDNA LIKE HAVING A 5 YEAR OLD FOR THE NEXT 60+ YEARS

SOMETHING TO SERIOUSLY THINK ABOUT
:)
