Artificial Legs Help Maimed Bird Walk Again

They actually use prosthetic surgeries for several birds.... raptors and ducks included!

they tried that (prosthetic mandible) with one of my canaries back in 1986.
He survived the surgery, but did not last long. too much stress for the little guy.

Yes!! That was her! Like I said, seeing the video just amazed me. Of course, most animals that get prosthesis recover pretty well (at least nowadays). That's interesting that it's more common for birds than I ever thought!

I will try to get a picture it broke on the front but more on the underside he does have a little dip in his beak and, the vet said it looked fine but, I think it was sore more than anything because he was using his feet more than his beak to climb. She said she could give him so numbing powder so that he wouldn't hurt but the day after she put the acrylic on there he was fine and I think he was chewing on a toy and the acrylic came off because it was white and now its gone but, he doesnt seem to hurt anymore. But I will try to get a picture!
