There's quite a bit about prosthetic beaks.... Reading through google, it seems as if acrylic, fiberglass, or nylon-composite material is used... I've heard of people using the dentist epoxy stuff (don't know what it's called, could be the nylon-composite material?) for beak repair.
It sounds like Goose just injured her beak, made it all sore, and that the acrylic may be making it feel better?

Yes, I need a pic as well. I would like to use it for my site eventually(thegreyroost) because I have pics of my sydney with a bloody beak, and need to let people know what can and should be done.
most times with a break, they wont use it for a few days. usually the prosthetic beaks are only used when one is damaged beyond the point of regrowth.

He could have just bruised it really badly too. My cherry head bruised his beak (lower mandible) really bad (it even turned black and blue). It took him a few days to get back to using it.

I just think medical science, along with veterinarian medical science, has become such a neat field. I saw a story on E-Vets on Animal planet, where a parrot (I can't remember what she was) had mutilated feet because of an aggressive mate. She couldn't walk anymore, so the Vet created prosthetic legs out of some sort of dental wire and a tack (for the feet). The wire was inserted into the bone, right above where the ankle was. And I kid you not, she was able to walk on her new feet once the anisthetic wore off. I'm just amazed.
