Here's a picture of our new cage. Still needs to be filled with the bird and plenty of toys. We're also not keeping it in this space. It'll be on the other side of the couch, away from the door.

I'm going to move some of the toys in Mojo and Shinda's cage about later on today after getting a few tips from Lesley (their breeder) then I'll post the latest layout!

It's dead exciting all this preparation, isn't it?! Helps keep our minds occupied during the seemingly interminable wait!

Being we bought our bird at Omars, we got a 15% discount on the cage. We ended up paying, with tax, $502.82. I saw the exact same cage online for much less, but that concerned me that it was so inexpensive. I trust Omar and know he doesn't skimp and sell knockoffs.

Oh, me too!!!!!!! My husband is visiting him today and I asked him to pick up a toy or two to start putting in the cage. It'll probably be about 3 more weeks 'til our bird is in it.

Oh the wait must be painful.. I will have to wait to bring home an Ekkie once I make the plunge and will probably go insane waiting.

When do you think you may get an Ekkie? I'm already thinking one day I want a Cockatoo and/or a Caique and/or an Amazon. My parents always said I needed to live on a farm because of my love for animals. Unfortunately, I don't live on a farm!!!! Being our 2 birds will be in the living room, we're trying to figure out where the Chinchilla cage can go. They sleep during the day and are up ALL night on their wheel. I would hate for that to keep the birds up and also having our CAG start mimicking the sound of the wheel turning.
