my grey is obsessed with perching on our HEADS!

Gonzo is a great bird. I love her to pieces. However, she's gotten into this phase where when she flies to us she'll land on our heads. I discourage it b/c I don't want poo on my head but my bf will sit there for hours with her on his bald head while she nibbles at the stubble. When I do let her sit on my head she loves to preen my hair and pull it out of my ponytail (I almost always wear my hair up...I'm too lazy to actually "do" it every day, lol)

Actually as I'm writing this she went from the top of the couch, to my shoulder, to my head, and she's pulling my hair. Don't worry, since I'm too lazy to take five minutes to dry my hair I don't put product in my hair (and don't even actually own any haha)

Does your grey do this? IDK if I should discourage it or what. She doesn't get dominant or anything, if I reach up to get her to step up she does her classic three clicks and gets right on my finger. She has shown dominance issues in the past when on her playtop but those are long gone.

What do you guys think?

OMG, yes! I have the same problem with Poppy, though my husband doesn't let him perch on his head either. I always just take him and put him back on his play stand without any sweet talk or anything and as soon as I turn away he flies right back to one of our heads.

I look forward to any suggestions myself.

We do not let birds on heads in this household. I think it is more personal preference though, as I do not want to be pooped on up there! As long as there are no dominance issues, I don't foresee a problem...

It is really simple though to get them to stop doing it if that is what you want. Make your head an unstable perch. We give one warning here: "NO birds on heads!". And then shake it if the bird doesn't get the heck off. We did go through a periord though, where my sun used it as a launching pad (he is clipped). But he could fly to my head and he knew exactly how long he had to make it to the next perch before I shook him off. Smart little buggers.

My new baby Pippy loves to be on my head too!!! I don't want him up there though either due to the pooping thing. So whenever he tries to climb up I stop him. He is clipped from when I brought him home from the breeders so he can't fly, but I am sure if he could he would be flying right up there.

ya know I tried your advice with the head shaking and it worked, but A. I ended up with a headache (I'm not cut out for headbanging apparently) and B. It doesn't help much when the man won't discourage her from head perching.

She's being a cranky beotch anyways I think she's starting to moult so we'll work on this later. She's such a daddy's girl its pathetic. Well its not, I'm just jealous.

Goose is absoultely obsessed with my head, thats where he loves to be and I try to not let him up there but he doesn't stop until he gets up there, He starts trying to climb down my bangs when he has to poop so I dont have to worry about that. And he also gets there if he is scared or on my shoulder and going to a different room.

Must be a common thing with greys, but I think the main issue is that it is a nice big stable place to land when they are flying. My grey thinks my head is his second "playstand" and I don't care how many times I get him off, he's right back there again if I turn around and start to do something. Gets kind of irritating when he gets tangled up in my hair and then bites me when I'm trying to untangle him! Ah well, one of the joys of being owned by a grey....
