african gray and new borns
Hi,
We have an african gray ( 10 months old) that I love so much. He is very needy and always wants to be with me specifically when my husband is around the same room. We will have twins in 3 months, and our families think that the parrot should not be home when the babies are born ( he is needy, and dirty). My mom is taking him for a few months ( to another state). I am afraid that he will not adjust to her life style. I'm also afraid that he will become so scare, and depress when he realizes that I am not there with him. I don't know what is the best choice for him; do I insist that he stay with us ( in our tiny apartment), or do I let him stay with mom? Any advise???Suggestions??? |

Hmmmm, is there an echo in here?
Hey EB.,.......... I hope Chandu doesn't think we are trying to pinpoint her location so we can send in the birdie police. :) Chandu, please don't mind our inquiring minds, we are just trying to help. |

Chandu:
Well, I'm no grey expert, but I do have 2 of them here. I think that what is likely to happen is that you'll lose your grey to whomever you send him to. At 10 months, he's only a baby himself. Perhaps that's the best thing for everyone. Believe me, twins will have you occupied for many, many months and maybe years. You can't expect your little grey to keep waiting for you. He needs a mom now. JMHO THE OUTLAW

I think you and I posted at the same time Joel -
And as usual, Nancy gave great advise. The grey is still a baby; I got Merlin when he was 10 months old and he has bonded well with me!
