The story of my babies... with a pic!

These are my 2 girls Lola & Rikoh...
I got Lola first- about 2 months ago, she's 8 months old. I bought her from a well know bird store near where I live. She was not a very happy bird when I met her at the store, but there was something about her that said "I have to take her home". I like a challenge anyway! She was very timid and cried a lot, but after only a day I saw a big difference! I had a wonderful bird within a week! So... I decided I wanted to get Lola a friend, so she'd have someone to "talk" to when I wasn't home. I went back to the same store and met yet another unhappy bird! Completely unhandleable. Screetching, biting and all that. I was hoping for a boy, and the guy told me that he thought that it was a male, so I thought after having such success with Lola... what the heck! I got a very good deal on both the birds, so I didn't mind having to work with them. In a few days Rikoh- she's about 6 months old- was starting to calm down as well... it's been about a month and we have made great progress! Still a little skiddish, but so much better! After having Rico DNA tested he turned out to be a she, so rather than change her name, I just changed the spelling... but the two get along great! Maybe I'll end up getting a male for both of them... but that'll be a way down the line! I also recently acquired a 6 year old male blue & gold macaw named Max, so I am busy with the birds for now! But it's great! I love it! More happy animals to add to my home zoo!

They are very pretty girls. Is the one as much a lighter grey as she appears in her picture? I'm glad they get along. I have a Grey and a Hahns Macaw and they hate each other. How do the Greys and the B&G mix?

You are not going to believe this!!! I went to pick up the certificate for Rikoh's DNA test... and it's a BOY!!! I had the strangest feeling that they were wrong when they looked up the results in the computer! I had my two greys DNA tested within a couple of weeks of eachother, and I just knew they were looking at the wrong test results!!! I was so shocked when I got the certificate... but so thrilled as well! Either way, they get along great... but now to know that I could possibly have a breeding pair is even better! I guess there was something to be said for the fact that I couldn't help saying "good boy" to him! LOL! Thanks to all for the nice comments!
