First week with Vern

He is really a sweet boy. He has come really far already! I can get him to take food from my hand, have him taking foot toys and while he is very awkward with the toys he does examine them quite well before dropping them..

He eats very well (better than Echo ) has nudged at my hand and last night was the topper. After I cover his cage I peek under it and talk to him very softly and he actually let me give him a head scratch


He has started chewing on the rope perch I put in his cage. If he chews on that instead of his feathers I will be more than happy to replace the perches!! I have hung a few toys on the wall next to his cage and will play with them. I have been placing one toy in his cage for 15 to 20 minutes at a time after I play with it then it gets hung back up safely on the wall.



He has 20 years of vocabulary that I will learn as time goes on but so far he loves to make a knocking sound and say come in. He also says what you doing Vern.. He can sound exactly like a chicken and as of yesterday keeps saying wooo wooo wooo It's so cute.

He seems like he is going to be such a sweet baby once he adjust!!

He actually says the knock knock and come in I think when he's nervous. He had said that right away. The foot toys is HUGE he never had toys all 20 years..

I think I missed the story of his arrival (take a week vacation and big changes happen out here on the board) but I couldn't be happier for you. He sounds like a great guy. I love his name. It sounds like you were meant to have him.
