sader update

hi all,
I have sader a week Wednesday, and he is coming along just fine, he comes out of the cage on his own, and doesn't mind being put back in when it's time, he doesn't growl at me anymore, and barely screams, unless I have something new in my hands, he still will scream when my husband or daughter approach him but will still do step up with no problems,
now me on the other hand he willingly steps up, but nibbles on my fingers, I don't think I have a steady perch for him (my hand) I try really hard to stay still and make sure he can grip on, but he stills comes down to nibble I don't say anything not to bring it to his attention, from what I read, you want to distract him from doing that well he's not interested in the distraction till he is done picking at my fingers, am I doing the right thing by ignoring it?
what do I do?
soon as I say step up his beak is at my fingers then he steps up, just touches my finger with his beak then when he steps up he begins playing with my fingers, he doesn't do it everytime i guess when HE feels like it, lol he doesn't do this to anyone else.......
yesterday I was gone a good 12 hrs to my sons fb game did all his changing before I left, my daughter was home with him, and she let him out, and gave him snacks
when I came home. soon as he heard my voice he couldn't get down from the cage fast enough to the cage door top, kept stretching his head out like to scratch it, I haven't got that far as to pet him, but I thought he was asking for it, so I perched him and of course nibble at my fingers but he let me pet him, I put him back and he kept coming to the top of cage door, I had to literally hold him for 20 minutes petting him, rubbing his head, he loved it............ and so did I.
so I'm guessing he is taking a liking to me lol .......... how do I break him from touching my fingers while/when perching? My husband and daughter can perch him with no finger nibbles and he just sits there..............
is this my test? he isnt hurting me,(yet) they are really only touches at most a nonhurting squeeze. any thoughts or ideas?
thanks so much!

tammy

Glad to hear you are making progress!

I'll be interested to see what people say about the nibbling of the fingers because Shinda does the same to me and it's not for balance and does sometimes hurt
