No hands !!!!
I am convinced my Grey has been mistreated by his previous owners. I say this because there were kids in the house that apparently teased him alot e.g sticking fingers in the cage and bits of stick etc.. He is around 2 years old. I have been trying to teach him to step up for months now but no luck. However, I find that he is starting to step onto my arms and not my hand. If I show him my hand or approach him with my hand extended he panics. He has done this from the begining but I took it it was because he was afraid of stepping up. He does not just step onto my arm without a bit of bribing but will do so more willingly than onto my hand. My problem is that once he has stepped onto my arm and I move he takes flight. I have tried my hand on many occasions but he bites me fairly hard when I do this. I would love him to use my hand instead of my arm. Does anyone have some suggestions on how to get him onto my hand? I don't want to have to use a glove if I don't have to, but the bites are rather painful. Please forward any suggestion you may have. Regards Vee
