House Plants And Trees???

Hi all,
I am redoing my living room and was wondering what type of house plants, or large inside trees are safe for birds. I would like to get some tall trees with sturdy branches so that the birds can perch on them and be safe for them.

thanks

Jer

I would recommend you get a play structure for your birds to perch on and play rather than live palnts and trees. I have read some conflicting information about plants and potential toxins. Also, I don't know about your's, but my birds would destroy a houseplant in no time if allowed to, including a large one. "Java trees", made from dried coffee tree wood are very attractive and well made. Most branches are quite horizontal which works out perfectly for birds. They come on a stand that is slightly weder and deeper than the branches of the tree to catch all the "birdie fallout", well, most of it anyway. It also has hooks to hang bird toys from and stainless steel cups for water and food. They are pretty pricey though. Another option is to hang playstructures such as "Atoms" and "Boinngs" from the ceiling and let the birds play on those. I prefer that because I just lay old sheets and towels on the floor under the birds which are just thrown into the wash when they are dirty.
