Vern is stepping up!

Vern has decided it's OK to step up with no hesitation! I am so excited!!! She has come so far in such a short time. 5 1/2 weeks

I really think her seeing Echo interact with me has a large part of why it's going so well. I learn a new word from her vocabulary almost daily. She has also taken a shower with me the other day and seemed to really like it! She must know she is in birdie heaven.

She doesn't act afraid at all anymore no matter who is talking to her even someone she has not seen before. She is not afraid of any toys I show her and boy is she making up for 20 yrs of nothing to chew on. There are new wood splinters on the bottom of her cage everyday and the rope perches are going to need replaced before to long.

I have also started calling her Sexy Lexy She will always be Vern of course so she will just have 2 names

She also is starting to have old downy feathers coming to the surface as if they are getting ready to fall off.

Woo hoo!!! It makes a huge difference to the birds when they finally realize they are safe and loved and can just chill and enjoy their life as a much revered object of adoration!
