my african pair

hello.. here i'm back with my pair of grey, still trying to breed them,,

after the last time i had unfertlized eggs, i removed the nest, and re added it few weeks ago..

till today there is no eggs in it..

is there any drigs or vitmins that i can use to motive them to start making babies?

another thing,, what if i put another cocktail pair next to them, would that motivate them to breed,, ( maybe when they see the coctail pair is breeding that will make them breed )?

another quistion i have. since i have returned them to ther cage with the nest.

they r always inside the nest, and even when they are out and they hear me coming they just jump in in crasy way..

what does it mean?
scared or ready to have babies.

please waiting for ur help.

best regards

They wont breed until they are ready and feel the time is right.
Their safety place is the nest so they hide from you when they see you coming.

I love Cocktails... But I wouldn't let my birds anywhere close to alcohol!!!!!

Just because their judgment is impaired doesn't me they will do "the deed".
Who knows maybe they if they get drunk they will just fall asleep.

I don't want to sound mean here, but I feel it kinda has to be said..

If you don't understand the ins and outs of breeding Greys... then find out. Buy some books. I recommend at the very least 'African Parrots' by Jean Pattison and Rick Jordan. At least you won't be so ignorant of how Greys are that you'd consider putting cock...tails (cockatiels/cockatoos?) next to them.

I'm not going to give you advice on the 'breeders tricks' of the trade for Greys. I think it would be counterproductive for you, when you need to STUDY that species before you breed them. Sorry to be mean here but... until you do get more familiar with the species, the best thing for that pair is NOT to breed. Then, at least, the babies won't be neurotic, plucking, unhappy, cautious adults due to 'uninformed' incorrect raising of them.

Please, study the species.

To be more productive than my previous post. I also (in agreement with Tina) think that you have a lot to learn about birds before you jump into breeding.
Maybe start with spelling and end with breeding?
We are just looking out for the well fair of your birds (and their potential offspring).
But I really would heed our advice.

Before the thought of actually breeding is even conceived in your mind, you should read a couple books on the subject. I would also suggest talking to some local breeders in your area... maybe "intern" for them. Clean their cages and feed their birds in exchange for hands on experience on breeding and hand rearing techniques.
Research cannot be substitute for hands on experience, and this will prevent a lot of error and death from ignorance.

Anyone have anything else to add?!

P.S. I don't really drink cocktails... I am under age.

i agree with micha and xsfamom

research is the key

then consider if u really want to breed with all the care and responsibilities it takes to raise a healthy and mentally stable parrot

Exclamation hello

well, thank u for ur replys and i appreciate ur care for parot's life.. but the replys i got were according to ur judgment ..

i know a bout birds enough not to make them live unederstress..

i have had hand fed different species befor.. i was just asking a bout certain behaviour,, and was asking about if i put my pair next to another pair that already breeds will make them feel more relaxed about laying eggs again.

thank u for ur interaction..
