Smile Help Re Palm nuts .

Hi all i was wondering if any of you feed palm nuts as i have heard they are very good for their diet.
Any advice would be good : storing them to keep them good , where to buy them and any info .
I ordered some the other day and they are here but i have never even seen anything like them before and when asking people where i could get them they looked at me very strange but went on eBay and found some .
Pauline

Hi Pauline

I get my palm nuts (they're from Africa, the real deal ) from Rob Harvey...

Parrot food, palm nuts, seeds, diet, african grey

Mojo and Shinda love them! Just put them in the freezer when they arrive and defrost a couple overnight as and when you want to give them. Wash them before feeding, I soak mine in boiled water before giving them as it helps to start the releasing of the oil they so love!

Mine love them too. I order them on-line.
For people, they are good, shelled, toasted and thrown atop of a good salad with some gorgonzola cheese and balsamic dressing... yummy. ** theres no indication here that I just got home from work and am awaiting dinner... is there? **

Bird Food, Bird Supply, Parakeet, Parrot, Bird Toys, Bird Cages, Cockatiel food and nesting supplies at Great Companions

They have pretty fair prices compared to other places I order from.

In a previous thread someone mentioned that the US prohibits the importation of palm nuts, the 'proper' palm nuts from Africa at least.
