Vacation coverage?

We have family that house sit and take care of our CAG when we go on vacation. It works OK, but I am wondering if there are other, better options out there, that would be better for the bird, and less an imposition on the family.

You could look for a bird store that may board your bird, someone who does house-sitting/pet-sitting, maybe even a friend who wouldn't mind caring for your bird, a breeder or even an avian vet???

Ultimately though, it's usually best to keep the bird around where it feels safest and secure, around people it knows.

If you have someone that come to house sit for you, I think that would probably be your best option. Your fid will be upset enough without having your around, moving it to a strange location could only make it worse.

I think there was a bird sitting swap thread going around on this board somewhere for BB members insterested in exchanging services. You might PM Tiki and see if she knows where it is...

If you really feel bad about imposing on family, if you have a younger cousin or sibling or something that would take good care of your bird, offer them a few bucks for the job, I'm sure it would be no imposition at all! I agree the bird will do better in its own environment.

Other than that, boarding and pet sitters have already been mentioned, you might check that out...
