I've head that toe nail biting could be a sign of nervousness. If she is doing this frequently, you may need to find out why and try to find a way to calm her down.

this is nervousness, and fustration. Stirling my male cag wittles his nails to little needles when he is nervous. Ozzie is going through alot right now...I would leave her nails be untill she has that cone thing off and her brest is 110% completely healed.

May I make a suggestion? I am currently using 2 products for my parrots with plucking problems. One of them is an Eclectus who I know is stressed out living with my macaws. I started adding Avicalm to her fresh foods about 2 weeks ago and I'm seeing a much happier and no longer plucking bird.
I would also suggest that perhaps this bird's cage should be moved to a less busy part of the house. Usually nervous behaviors get worse and that often leads to plucking. You don't even want to go there. You can purchase Avicalm online at www.avitec.com. I have been so impressed with Avicalm, Featheriffic and Featherin that I'm seriously considering becoming a distributor for Avitech. The best thing about the Avicalm is that is doesn't dope up the bird. Not at all. I've seen birds on tranquilizers and it just breaks your heart. I once witnessed a Hahns literally fall off of a cage when being treated with a Prozac-like product. THE OUTLAW

Absolutely. That makes perfect sense. She's just gone through trauma. Ust spend as much time as you can cuddling her and talk to her a lot. Even when you aren't in her view. I think she's feeling vulnerable. In the wild, she'd have other flock members close by. I think being injured, she's feeling vulnerable. After all, in the wild, she'd likely be someones lunch.

Biting vs. grooming
Is there a difference?
Bobbi does what I was assuming a grooming routine. She does not "bite" them or whittle them down. She just grooms them like she does her feet and feathers. Thanks for the information.

Bobbi is probably just grooming...the nervous biting you would see the bird being real skittish/jerky/scared/even very exaggerated.....you will come to notice the difference..... :aiwebs_01
