So I got Ziva to step up....

I put on a glove when she first avoided then lunged at my hand. I have used a dowel, but she reacts the same way. So, I tried the glove. I kept telling her it was 'night night time' so she knew what I wanted. She was afraid, but she did step up after a few minutes. She was flapping her wings like crazy.. it sounded like a huge raptor flapping its wings! When I made the 'shhh' sound she stopped flapping so I could put her inside the cage again. She's scared about it, but I'm hoping she'll get used to it because I really don't want to have to towel her to put her in the small carrier tomorrow to go to the vet. I think that scares her more than anything!

She also chews on her nails...and then rubs her beak really fast in her claw. She also looks like she's picking her teeth with her nails..if she had teeth. What does all that mean? She also shakes her tail like a duck...any ideas? I am afraid I don't read her body language very well yet. She hasn't ever sat really still like she's scared to move...she's always on the move! She walks all over the roof of her cage upside down. It's hard to get her to perch! She finally ate a decent amount tonight. I'm anxious about what the vet thinks. I still think she looks really itchy!!

Watch the eyes for behavior. If she starts pinning them it could mean she excited, happy or even ticked off.

Everything she does doesn't always mean anything other than she felt like doing it. Some of it is preening behavior.

My TAG does the tail shake thing...I think it's just an adjustment of feathers. My CAG does odd things with his nails, including this thing where he touches each one and clicks his beak after touching it. It sort of looks like an intimidation thing to me, he only does it when you're right near his cage. Like a bully cracking his knuckles. lol
