Talking I found Nori's weakness!!!

It's CHEERIOS!

He says "Want some Cheerios?" every so often but I didn't have any. I bought some today and offered him some. He still won't take treats from my hand while he is in the cage and is just starting to finally let me change food and water without freaking out. Well, apparently Cheerios are the magical food cuz I offered him some with my fingers in between the cage bars and after he thought about it for a minute I told him that was the only way he was going to get any Cheerios and he took it! I gave him a couple more and told him what a good boy he was. After he ate them he said "MMMM, Nori good boy. Can I have a kiss?" LOL.

Now that I know there is something he will take from me I'm going to keep giving him a couple every day until he's comfortable with it. Then I'm going to start trying to get him to take them with the cage door open. Hopefully he will eventually learn that I'm not going to hurt him and that being out of the cage is fun! Having Monty in the room with him has helped him settle down a lot though since he sees me do things with him everyday.

Glad to hear things are improving!

I offered my Grey a Cheerio as a treat once. She threw it at me and gave me the raspberries hehe. That's what she usually does when she doesn't like something I give her. Yet I'm sure if I were to eat Cheerio's infront of her, she'd be begging for them! Silly bird...

That is really cute! Sounds like you have a good plan, and hopefully he will be stepping up and interacting with you really soon.

I hope so. I know it's going to take some time but it's great progress for only being here 2 months. We had a really rocky start and his last home used to towel him and make him come out of the cage so I have that against me also on top of the 20 years of not being handled much. I still can't believe I was so worried about if I was ready for a grey. I still don't think I was ready for any grey...I was ready for Nori. I feel so amazed and blessed at how well he settled in.
