Thanks Pippy. I did forget to mention that he enjoys head, neck and face scritches from me only. My husband can't touch him. He even tries to bite the hubs if he offers him a treat. He also loves to beak wrestle with my fingers and his favorite toy is a parrot ball with a bell in it. He loves killing that ball.

Oh I just love it when Greys 'kill' their toys! Shinda often does this! Or he'll just go nuts having just played with a toy!

Here is an example of Shinda in one of those funny moods Greys sometimes have! Video shot when I was staying at my boyfriend's house, my birds just make themselves at home wherever they go!

Angry boy!

YouTube - Shinda, African Grey parrot break-dancing!

I know it looks as though he had his foot stuck but trust me, he didn't, he often rolls around with his toys!

And here is a video of Mojo going equally nuts with her favourite hanging toy!

YouTube - Mad Mojo!

Craaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazy birds!

LOL! What great birds! I love the breakdancing. You would never know that Mojo is handicapped. You have a great set up there. I noticed several of you toys are children's toys. Just one question, and please people not trying to start a battle, but are you concerned about the lead they were finding in children's toys? I know most were removed from shelves and the problem supposedly has been irradicated. Just wondering, cause I was thinking about purchasing some children's toys for my birds.
Ah, I see you are in the UK. It might not be a problem there. It was here for a while but I think it has been taken care of.

Thank you for all the good...er....bad information lol. I'm seriously considering a grey baby and getting used to him/her as he/her gets use to me. I usually like the option of adopting, but I think it would be better if he/she starts off small and I get used to their size.

Do any of you have young children with your greys? I understand the CONSTANT supervision - I have to do it with Teetee - but do greys also tend to not like children? Obviously my daughter would never be left alone with the bird or allowed near the cage at all, but you mentioned greys are floor birds so do they have a tendency to chase after little people? Otherwise I might have to make a different choice. Teetee ignores my daughter for the most part and my daughter does the same.

The only negative I have is the dust. I too follow pippy. Get a very young bird and if possible find a breeder who will let you bond with baby before its weaned - Introduce all kinds of new things constantly. I have one of each and the one who accepts new things the most is the one I have been able to interact with since just at weaning and was handfed in a very noisey colorful busy place. The one who wasnt was afraid of everything when he came at 11 years old - he is much better now, learning from the others helped.

Yep, I buy toddler toys for them to play with! I do only allow them to have access to non-bird toys when they're out of the cage and fully supervised though.

No, we haven't had any issues 'over here' involving lead in toys

Arthur is one that is a bit hit and miss with new things. I just go with his body language as to how things are going to span out.

Negatives, hmm, my guy picks up everything that is said, dictates the birdroom, gets in pissy moods, can give a helluva bite when in one of these moods, I've had to get filters put in my computer due to his dust...umm that's pretty much it. I think as a family we've just become use to Arthurs little quirks and forget about them until we see a visitor do something near him that has him doing the breakdown thing. Would never be without him.
