I honestly have no idea. I believe the owner is going to join this forum today, so she will be able to tell you more! They open the door and let him out, so I would think he would have to still be clipped, but I am not sure.

He is 7 years old and hasnt gotten his wings clipped since the first time.My mom hand fed the bird and he used to be really sweet. She used to be able to flip him on his back and play with him. But when his wings were clipped he got really mean. My mom basically gave up and rarely used to let him out. I took him about 2 weeks ago and would love to have him nice and cuddly again. I can'tpet him or put my hand in his cage, but he will take treats from me and my boyfriend from outside the cage. And also, he can sometimes be in a good mood and let me pet him through the cage and will sometimes give me kisses! This bird is confusing me!

welcome. He needs a bit of time to settle in. Even tho, he knows you already, its the new environment that he has to get used to. His life has changed.
Try opening the cage, and allowing him to come out on his own. It may take some time if he has become cage bound. Try roll modeling between your boyfriend and yourself with objects. What I mean by this is, say you have a ball. You both sit on the ground , and really act like you are enjoying this ball. Hand it back and forth using slower movements, but happy responses. This will engage his curiosity , and maybe entice him to want to interact with you. Again, wont be an overnight thing, but something that happens when he is comfortable. Also, like the picture I posted, try things like that. Interacting with a book. show the pictures, read out loud as if you would a child. Its all ways to peek his interest, and wish to become part of the family network. The little trust he is showing you, the allowing to pet, the acceptance of treats and the kiss noise, is his way of interacting with you. This will increase with time, but just beware of the Grey bait and switch. Meaning asking for a tickle and then resulting in a bite. Greys tend to do this from time to time, outsmarting the owners, so watch his eyes as well. you will learn the difference between the trusting eyes, from the mischievous ones. Being clipped, becoming snappy, and then not being handled is a common occurrence with some. It takes time to work through it, but it can be done with time and patience. Good Luck
