Time to find a new vet. Keep him warm and in a dark and quiet place, until you can find a "certified" Avian Vet. I am really sorry you are having to go through this. How is the bird acting? Is he alert? Did the vet give you any anti-inflammatory drugs or antibiotics?

The vet in Columbus Dr. Barbara Oglesbee wanted $150 for a consultation, and $1000 to clip the quick. I love my bird very much, but that is highway robbery. :( I am going to try the vet in Norton. Can anyone direct me to a better vet, or tell me that the Norton vet is a good doctor? He is doing ok right now, sitting in his travel so he can't hurt himself. The bleeding has stopped, and he is on some pain meds.

Barberton vet has two doctors. The younger one I'm not too fond of. The older one is also the attending vet for a local zoo. I was pleased with him.

For the life of me I'm blanking on both their names right now.

It was nice to talk with you. Just keep in mind what we talked about, and hold onto my number.
Most vets have a payment program called care credit. The interest rate is high, so just be aware. however, it may be an option.
They will most likely either clip and cauterize, or build up around it. You have the baytril (broad spectrum antibiotic- also make note to the new vet about what meds he is on) but they will also give pain meds.
soft foods, make sure he is eating(or licking at this point).
Because of the severity of it, you just want to make sure the vet is familar with this type of injury.
Give me a call tomorrow

I can't thank you enough for talking to me. I really appreciate it. I just looked at his paper and they also gave him a dose of Metacam. He is doing ok, and just seems glad to sit and watch what's going on. I will keep everyone posted, and thank you everyone for your help.

Your welcome. thats what I'm here for.
Metacam is a pain/anti-inflammatory medication.
