Exclamation Please help!

Hello,

I have an African Grey who broke off a large part of his beak. He broke about and inch off at the tip, and the vein in the beak is showing. We have him at the vet, but they can't help him even though they say they are avian vets. They have got someone calling back in a few minutes, but I am frantic. He isn't bleeding right now, but it is painful. I need to know, will he live? I won't have to put him down right? Oh god...Please tell me there is someone who has gone through this! He's never hurt him self this bad, I just need someone who has gone through this! Please help me....

Oh bless, poor little bird and poor you xxxx

One of my Greys cracked his beak a few weeks ago. He was screaming in agony even when it stopped bleeding. The vet gave him an anaesthetic and cut the broken part right off, it has healed wonderfully and Henry can now use it just as before.

Birds survive even having the entire top or bottom part of the beak coming off (usually through a fight) so your bird won't need to be put down.

Good luck and please let us know what happens xx

I'm in Ohio, the only vet that can help is in Columbus. I live about 45 mins from Columbus. I don't want my baby to die. I am praying to god she can help.

here is what his beak looks like. This is not my bird. The black is where it broke off, the red is the vein.

your going to have to handfeed baby foods to him, or handfeeding mix if the dr has harrisons juvenile formula. It will explain that in the link I posted.
