shifted affections

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I've recently moved in with my partner, who has owned a blue-fronted amazon for about 7 years, since she was about a year old. Very sweet bird, and I've really fallen in love with her.

Well, apparently the feeling is mutual. When I'm not around, she is fine with my partner, allowing herself to be scratched, petted, picked up, etc.. When I'm around, I am the only one allowed to come near her, and she bites and growls at my partner. Needless to say, he's getting a little upset about this. I've heard that parrots will bite their mates to try to protect them, but it doesn't really make sense that she turns around and is as sweet as pie to me.

She will draw blood from him one minute, and then turn around and put her head down wanting me to scratch her.

Any advice?
