Question Sleeping Box?

I like to work with wood and I also like to provide an environment for my animals that is similar to their natural environment (if appropriate).

I was thinking about a possible design for either one or both of my two birds (cockatiel and amazon). I wanted to try to design a sleeping box that mimics a hollow tree. I was thinking to mount it in a corner of my room, near the ceiling.
I don't know about cockatiels natural sleeping environments, but I remember that when I saw Amazons in central and south america, they were chillin out in hollow tree cavities. Do you think these birds find these environments comfortable outside of when they are breeding?

Any input on this would be appreciated. By the way, I intend to keep the birds separated (in case it didn't seem that way!) and they still have cages!

Peace

Dave
