Question my amazon is acting strange, and i dont know what to do

I have a Lilac Crowned Amazon named Squire. And a friend gave him to us when he couldnt take care of him anymore. When we got him he didnt like girls. but he loved my dad. After having for about 3 or 4 months he was gettign better about us(girls) holding him. Then all of a sudden hes been acting weird. He will be sitting on his cage and he will start squawking at everyone. For no reason. It happends all the time now, even when hes covered in his cage. Im worried that he could be in pain or something. He hasnt stopped eating, and otherwise seems fine. But sometimes he falls of his perch? Is there anything we can do to help him?
thanks for the help,

Hi,
I don't see anyone responding so I will try to help. can you be more descriptive as to his actions. While he is squawking, for example, is he crouched down a little with his tail feathers flared out?
Is he leaning forward, while holding his wings out to the side just a little bit?

Do the pupils of his eyes get bigger and smaller as he is yelling?

A better description of his actions might help me give you an idea of what he is up to. Parrot body language tells a lot.

Thanks,
Bill

Hi,

Tell us more about what is going on and what you mean by he falls off his perch. Falling off the perch is not normal. I it like he is having a nightmare? A Seizure? We need to know more about his diet, cage size, and a little history.

Males will sometimes do almost nonstop screaming when they are hormonal. It is their way of letting others know that there is a mature male here.

However, since you talk about his falling off a perch, there is need to be concerned. A change of personality and his falling off a perch should warrant taking him to an avian vet for a well-bird check that includes blood work. This will not be cheap and will cost a little under $200 depending on where you live and the veterinary help available.
