help with new bfa amazon

Hi,

I'm new to these board and would like some tips on how to make my new baby comfortable. I'm noticing that jericho seems to have a bit of "cage anxiety" He will step up on my hand but sometimes doesnt want to come out of his cage and when i do take him away from his cage he gets nervous and starts flapping his wings and hopping up and down on my hand. He bops his head up and down and turns around a lot on my hand. I think he still has trust issues and considering he is only 4-5 mths old, what should i do to overcome his anxiety?

I'm pretty new to this board too. I also have a BFA, Pico, who will be 2 in Feb. He was an adoption as his previous owners could no longer keep him. He was very anxious when we got him. He would step up and didn't have a problem leaving his cage, but he didn't like to be touched at all. As you have noticed by now that it takes time for them to build their trust. Pico now lets us pet him, he gives kisses and likes to have his head scratched. He even lets me kiss his foot. We have only had him for 3 months.

We keep hearing that BFA's are "one person birds". Well not Pico. He wants whoever takes him out of his cage first. He loves my husband just as much as he loves me and we love him.

With time, lots of attention, work and praise BFA's can overcome almost anything!
