Hi Erin-

I'm so sorry to hear about your bird...I have no idea what is wrong with him but it sounds very serious.
I really think you need to get him to an avian vet RIGHT AWAY!

Yes. He absolutely needs a avian vet now. He sounds very ill. If you cannot see one today, you must provide a special box for him. Using a heating pad set on low, place the pad under a container large enough for the bird, a towel, food and water dishes. Only have one half of the bottom of the container on the pad so that the bird can move away if it gets too warm. Make sure the towel covers the entire bottom of the box.

You need to keep the bird 85 degrees warm, even a little warmer. You may add some Pedialite to his water, 50 percent water to 50 percent Pedialite.

Your bird sounds very weak. Are his droppings abnormal? Feel his chest. Has he lost weight? Can you feel his keel bone? Please, your bird needs help. Don't play around or you may well lose him. Good luck.

Where do you live? Maybe someone knows a good avian vet in your area. Like Nancy said the best thing you can do is keep your bird warm and hydrated until you can see an avian vet. The bird needs a vet today! Tell us more about what is going on with your bird, labored breathing? Reduced poops? Color of Poops? Is it still eating and drinking? Where has it been and what has it eaten in the last 24 hours?

We are here to help, keep posting!

is there an emergency avian vet in your area? I would try to get him seen TONIGHT. I wouldn't wait until tomorrow because it sounds like it will be too late by then.

Erin,

The bird needs a vet now! Find a 24 hour emergency vet and take him there. Right now any vet may be able to help, he has the medications you need and even if he does not see birds we can email or fax him the information he needs for medications. Tell us more about what the bird has eaten and drank in the last 24 hours. Has he been chewing any type metal? Smell the birds breath and tell me what you smell. Look at the last droppings and tell me what you see, has the amount changed?

Does your avian vet have an emergency number on his phone ? Usually there is a 24 hr emergency vet somewhere in your vicinity.
