Will keep you posted on how Max adjusts, Max had even started to accept the dogs, all that went up the tube when we brought Gilligan home.

On top of that of all times for our neighbors to bring there dog over for a "play date" which they often do even if we are not home. When it comes to pets "our home is there home" Plus they are our pet sitters when we have to have pet sitters. So Gilligan had not a normal 3 dogs to get used to but 4.

Gilligan did just fine, Max on the otherhand...will overcome with lots of love.

Another reason I am so glad we adopted this birdie is because although he was not abused and was well taken care of according to what his birdie mom thought was right. But he only had about three toys in his HUGE cage and was never fed any fresh fruit and vegges and he was on a seed diet with no pellets. And he was fed salty people snacks.

You add that on top of the fact that she only had interaction with him about 2 or 3 times per week.

This would not be the same bird adjusting so well so fast in a year or twos time.

Dont get me wrong, she really loved this birdy, she was in tears when we took him away. She needs credit, because she did what was right for the bird. She knew she didnt have the time to spend with him and did what was right before it was too late. TWO THUMBS UP TO THE MOM WHO DID THE RIGHT THING BEFORE IT WAS TOO LATE!

Will keep you posted. Again two thumbs up to mom.

Yes, she did what was right for the bird. Things change and sometimes you just have to let them go, for the good of them. She did the right thing. Some will hang on to them and they end up with all kinds of problems, then they want to let them go. Glad you got.

all you have to remember is to learn from your new zon and watch his reactions to everything that happens that way you can know what your bird needs without going nuts LOL

Max adjusting

It is day 4 with gilligan. Last night I was sitting on the sofa with Max on my shoulder and Gilligan on my knee. Max desided to come down my arm and check Gilligan out, Max got about 4 inches away and they both just looked at each other. I am thinking OMG bird fight on my lap.. But after a few minutes Max just turned around and bit my finger. He didnt hurt me at all. It was like he was saying get this bird off you, you are my mom not his. Then he turned and walked back up my shoulder and that was the end of it.

I thought that was pretty good progress.

Can you keep us updated on how your Sun adjusts/accepts his new flock mate? I am looking into getting a second bird but worried my Nanday will have a hard time adjusting.

Update on Max's adjustment... Today is Day 5, last night I had gilligan on my knee again and Max on my shoulder and again Max came down to check gilligan out and this time gilligan made a snarling noice at Max. Tonight my husband had gilligan on his knee and I had max, max climbed off of me and went over to my husband and up his shoulder and when gilligan wasnt looking ran down my husbands arm so fast we couldnt do anything about it. Max, little Max beaked gilligan and of course gilligan made an even louder snarling noise.

I think I really have to watch Max because he has no fear at all. He thinks he is King of the house over all the critters.

So that is the update, I think Max was trying in the begining to get along and in the end desided to pay Giligan back. Crazy little bugger. Maybe he thinks he is a Macaw??? LOL.
