To rehome or not Please Help me deside

I really need your help, my husband really wants to give this bird a home.

It is a 7 month old Mexican redhead Amazon or also known as Green cheeked Amazon. It was hand fed as a baby, the current fid mom does not have much time for her (I say her? unknown) and only handles her 2 or 3 times per week.

Even so, she is very gentle and came right to my husband from the current fid mom, then she wanted to go to me. After I held her, she wanted me the whole time, she would let my husband hold her, but she really wanted me. On that note, there was not a man in the household at her current home.

She gets along with cats ( I dont have any cats ) and her fid mom told us she also gets along with her moms large amazon and her moms dog. We have 3 large dogs and of course Max our Sun.

She comes complete with a huge cage, so housing is not a problem. What I am worried about is do these birds tend to be one person birds or are they two people birds? What about jeolousy between either the dogs or max or my husband and I. I don't want the bird to only like me.

Please let me know your input, experience and any other information. Thanks, Marrage might be on the rocks over a bird. LOL.. haha..

One can never say it will be a one person bird for sure or the other way around. Very young yet and if you both spend the same amount of time............ They all are like us, you always like one better than the other.

Know you have the sun, which is not the quietest bird, and you would be adding another not so quiet bird. Can your home handle this?

Noise level is not a problem, actually Max is loud, but not constantly usually only when greeting us. The dogs are louder when anyone walks down the street. I just want her to like us both, but like you say she is young. thanks for your input. Let me know if there is anything else you can think of.

Too Late, we had to get her. Soo glad we did, she is adjusting amazingly and has taken right away to both of us. Here I was worried about how the new bird would adjust... Max is out of his mind with Jeliousy, We both have been showering him with attention but he is not happy about the situation at the moment. I am sure he will get used to it. Will send pics and an update on how all is going.

You were worried about Max being loud, Max wispers compared to this one. But all is good in bird world.

I am so glad you got her! Please post pics when you have time. It may take awhile, a LONG while, for the conure to adjust. It took Rocky , my spoiled gcc, 2+ years to finally accept the new caique. Even now, he would just as soon he went away. I try to spend special time with Rocky, like reading in bed with him on my shoulder; mornings with him while the caique sleeps.

I am so glad we did too! We do not know if he is a she yet so I am going to call my new fid a he until I find out outherwise, so we have named him/her gilligan. I thought we would have to wait days to let him adjust. He didnt take 15 minutes to adjust, he really liked the jungle gym we made for Max (a bit too small for him, but he was happy because he never had such a thing) Max was not too happy though even though he really didnt like the gym.

He was non stop talking and mumbling. He already has a vocublary of ... hello, I love you, pretty bird and a bunch of other mumbo jumbo I dont understand and he doesnt stop talking.. Max actually is quiet compared to him.

I am at the moment giving Max some one on one time, Gilligan is used to going to bed early and Max is not, because we work from home and do most our work in the evenings. Max is going nuts thought. LOL. ha ha

Including Pics, day one can you belive it..

What a beautiful bird! I am so jealous right now. I am glad he found his way into a loving home!

Can you keep us updated on how your Sun adjusts/accepts his new flock mate? I am looking into getting a second bird but worried my Nanday will have a hard time adjusting.
