Joanie,
I almost feel like I know you from reading all the Bird Talk articles I soaked up years ago. I loved reading about the antics of your troup, and got a great sense of their various personalities. My favorite story was when one of your Amazons was turned down for a voice part in a commercial because he sounded too human! Plus, I thought living in Alaska must be really awesome (although after living in Florida I don't think I could handle it well myself). It's great to know I'm on the same team with you!

Welcome-Joanie Doss
I want to thank each and every one of you for the very warm welcome. I like all birds, love parrots and am crazy over those Amazons. I hope I can
get people to understand their Amazons better. To know an Amazon is to love them. Joanie Doss The Amazing Amazons http://www.parrothouse.com/jdoss.html |

*********** That was my BFA Pepper. He did the commercial but they hired a human to talk over his lines as they thought no one would believe it was a parrot talking when they used his voice. Alaska was a real experience. It gave me time to write and study Amazons. Now that I am back in civilization, I don't have the time to do as much of these things as I want. There are times I want to pack up and go there just to finish some of my projects. It was funny to see how the birds reacted to green all year round. Even in Alaska the birds would blink their eyes a lot when things turned green. They were used to the white covering everything. Here in Oregon we get very little snow and when we do, it generally melts by noon. They are doing pretty good with the changes they had to go through.
