Questions about 4 1/2 month old yellow naped

Hello, My name is Marcy and I am new to this group! I just recently got a yellow naped amazon. when i bought him he was 3 months old and still hand feeding once a day(he is not 4 1/2 months old). The breeder sent me home with everything i needed to continue to hand feed him once a day until he was no longer interested in it any longer. Well I handfed him for about 2 weeks and then stopped. He is doing great now with eating and all that on his own.
My question is he doesnt like anyone else but me! He will let me do whatever i want to him. Hold him, hug him, flip him over on his back and he constantly wants to be on me. He will jump on me every chance he gets, he is always trying to get to me someway, anyway he can. Is this bad that he likes me too much? And how can i get him to be more social with other people? He will bite anyone else that tries to get him to step up. He has even started this just recently also, If i am holding him and someone else comes into the room and talks to him he bites me! He is very sweet and loving to me and i wish that he would be that way with everyone. I am not sure how to make him more social with everyone.
Also at what age do the yellow napes begin to talk if they are going to?
Thanks for any advice anyone can give me!

You may also want to post this in the Amazon forum.

Amazons give a whole new meaning to "possesive"! LOL

Before I post I readily admit I am not an expert and will take no offense if someone wants to correct anything I've written. I've been reading a lot on parrots but am just at the beginning of the learning curve myself.

That having been said, from what I've read it sounds exactly like you got a yellow naped amazon parrot. He fits into that amazon profile pretty well. I wouldn't stop trying to socialize him every chance you get but they are known for being a one person bird.

I've also read that a bird will sometimes bite the person he loves as a warning when he fears he or she is in trouble. If you were a bird he would get a mouthful of feathers, enough to warn his mate but not actually hurt. As a human he gets a mouthful of skin...it tends to hurt more.

Socialization is key every chance you get. You want a zon who can learn to entertain himself and not scream whenever you are apart or not on your shoulder. I know of a BFA who was rehomed because of this. Nevertheless, form a tight bond, but don't let him boss you around.
