Question problem wing amazon

I have a red lored amazon, almost a year old, who at times seems to be in pain. He sometimes tries to fly to me as i walk out of the room, or becomes frightened and falls off his perch. When this happens, sometimes his wing seems to catch and he makes noises as if he might be in pain. He seems to adjust it back to a normal position and everything seems alright. I believe he is molting and his feathers are starting to also grow back from his first wing clip. Hope someone can tell me if this is something serious or if this is something someone else has encountered.
thanks daphna

From what you describe, it sounds to me as though it might be a normal occurrence. I have five 'zons and see this type of behavior from time to time. My theory (and it's just that) is that 'zons are heavy and land with more "enthusiasm" than do lighter birds, possibly putting more strain on an outstretched wing and causing pain. When this happens to my guys I keep an eye on them until I'm sure everything's okay. If it ever happened that more than short-lived discomfort was involved, I'd take the little guy to my avian vet for a check-up. So far that's never been necessary.
