help with brown and black feathers

Has anyone heard of bird's feathers turning black brown color on upper part of the wings? Does anyone know what could cause this? It just came on this year on my mom's red lored amazon and she is over 20 years old. She does live in a mobile home that has gas heat. Don't know if such a thing would cause this. She doesn't like or won't eat any type of vegetable. She does have aspergillosis but we don't think that's related.
Thanks,
Tamara

I was first thinking that perhaps it's damaged feathers... damaged feathers turn "black"... however, a nutritionally deficient diet can cause dark colored feathers. A poor diet may also result in a bird living 1/3 of it's potential life-span.

This amazon needs to be on a better diet. What does she eat right now?

she is eating zupreen organic at this point, she was eating the fruit flavored but my mom was worried that the fruit flavored had dyes and other stuff in it that would be bad for her so she changed to the natural stuff.

Hahahahahaha....that is quite funny!

Anyway...the brown spots could mean stress emotional wise or from a lack in diet as said above. It's really hard to pin point. Sometimes too those spots can be caused from a lack of sunlight.
