Question My 13 year old DYH Amazon

I have a question, could anyone give me an opinion?

I'm slightly handicapped, I only have the full use of one arm, will this effect my trying to establish a relationship with my 13 year old DYH Amazon Petey?

"SWEET PEA" came to me when he was 11 years old, after being with 3 other owners. The woman who raised him died of cancer when he was 9 years old. Then "SWEETY PETEY" went to my daughter for 2 years, but she had a lot on her plate at the time and "SWEETY PETEY" had become a biter by this time, she gave him to me.

Now his name is Petey, and he recognizes his name, but after his honeymoon period when I could hold him, Petey went back to biting again, and I can no longer hold him. I've had him for a year, and he still tries to bite me.

He knows the "step up" command and steps up on a dowel easily. He also knows the "back off" command, but likes to test that command to see if I really mean it.

Hi Nancy Jean,
I just rehomed a MRHA. He is 13 yrs old. He was not handled for 5 yrs. They toweled him to do his wings, nails and beak. I got him in Oct 2005. It tookd me approx 2 days. I offered him the towel or my hand. He now steps up on the hand with no problem.
I would give Petey some more time. Sit and talk to him, read him a book. I hear they like listening to their owners read Dr Suess. (LOL).

This is just my opinion. I am sure that Joanie D. would be way way better at answering this though.
