To clip or not to clip

Hi, I am new to this forum and I am happy to have found a place to get information. My question is weather I should clip my 3 1/2 yo DYH wing feathers. I like that she can fly in the house, but I have two cages for her outside and it terrifies me to think of her flying away. I have seen a type of harness for parrots at shows and wonder if there is one you would recommend. I would only use it if I were taking her out on my shoulder.

Thank you

What a great article! I am pro flight, so now I need to start training and find Izzie a leash and harness so she can be safely transported outside the home. We will check the links you have provided for help with training. Thank you again.

many parrot owners in European countries do not, and that this practice is believed tantamount to abuse by some. This fact alone allows us to understand that the practice of keeping the flight feathers trimmed may not be always as necessary as many believe it to be.
I'm European (UK) and that pretty much sums up my view!

I successfully use the Aviator harness with my birds so maybe give that one a go. I believe it's the type most often recommended.

Good luck with whatever you choose!
