Chilli Had To Be Put To Sleep/Need Help

I am so sad to tell you all that Chilli, my amazon that you all have helped me with in the past, had to be put to sleep yesterday.

It was very odd and I am heartbroken, but I don't understand what happened and maybe if I did, it would help.
She was fine the two days before and had not even been sick in awhile (she is prone to yeast). Yesterday when I uncovered her she was all puffed up and on the bottom on the cage. She had thrown up in her water several times as a while slime like milky substance was in it. I called the vet to rush her in and she threw up three more times after that. I took a sample to the vet and when we got in she said the sample of what she was throwing up showed a great deal of bacteria and was loaded with epitherial cells, more then she had ever seen. Chilli was very ill acting also. The vet said she felt she would need to put her in an incubator and give her oxegen even to examine her, as she was so bad off. I asked the vet if she felt I should think about letting her go and the vet said that "it might be something you need to start thinking about". She told me that we could try to bring her back but that she did not know if we could (given how ill she was acting) and that we would probably be at this same place in a few days. I did not want her to die alone in the incubator there and not know why I left her and the vet seemed to feel the material she vomited was full of bacteria and the epiltherial cells. I have not changed anything in her diet, I keep her cage clean and I had been even putting apple cider vinager in her water (just two drops) last week to kind of prevent yeast.
You all don't think the ACV would cause these issues do you? Does anyone have a clue. I miss her so much but the vet and I feel I made the right choice, given we did not have a good chance to bring her back given her overall physical condition she was presenting. It happened so fast. I just don't understand.
Thank you all for any input, if you have it. I appreciate it. I miss her so very much but did what I felt best for her.....

So Sorry for your loss, but I think you did the right thing. It is hard to let our feathered and furry friends go, but we have to also think about quality of life. I for one would not want to live like that.

How sad to lose her! If the vet's opinion was that she didn't have a chance, you did the right thing by making her end comfortable.

Its a final "Act of Love." If it meant her suffering with no hope for a complete recovery... you did the right thing. I know it had to be a very hard decision for you to make. I am so sorry for your loss. Fly Free Chilli.

Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts. What is best for them is the hardest thing to do....

Does anyone have any idea what would cause so many epithelial cells to be in the sample of what she threw up? The vet said it was just loaded with them, as well as bacteria and that she had never seen that many in a sample/slide.

I know in the end, it doesn't matter what happened, just that I did not let her suffer, but I just don't understand what happened. It happened so fast, I was just shocked. She did not get into anything, so I don't know.

The only thing different was the apple cider vinager in her water (2 drops) and I don't think that would harm her or cause that type reaction.

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry for your loss. Making a decision like that, I can't even imagine. I think you did the right thing but how hard it must have been. :(
