need help with broken blood feather

I just walked over to pick my bfa up and noticed blood on the cage. Then i noticed he had a broken blood feather. It wasn't like this an hour or so ago when i picked him up. I don't know how he broke it. The problem is i don't know what to do as there isn't an avian vet open until in the morning. Will he be alright until then or is there something i can do for him? Thanks for any help.

If it doesnt stop bleeding your more than likely gonna have to pull it to make it stop. which is prob what the vet would do as well.

Thanks. I will keep a close eye on it. Hopefully it will stop. I looks like it is trying to stop now. I am not really sure how to go about pulling it.

you'll probably have to towel him, and you mave have to pull it with pliers to get a good enough grip on it. just grab at the base on the feather and pull quickly. Itll bleed for a lil bit afterwards but will be better in the long ruin because the feather will probably keep bleeding everytime he hits it if you dont.

You can always use a little cornstarch on the wound to stop the bleeding.. apply some light pressure... it should stop.

Thanks everybody for the help. The bleeding stopped last night and I took him today and had it pulled out. All is fine now. Just got a little worried last night as i have never had this happen and wasn't sure what to do. I guess i will know next time. Thanks again.
