I am an owner of a green cheek as well. Max is 7 yrs old and the love of my life. I just had max DNA sexed and I am waiting for the results. Max has a good vocabulary. I know that he can say over 30 words. He/she (unknown yet) is very friendly most of the time. But if my DH is in the room then you might as well forget about touching Max. Even though he belongs to me, Max choose my DH as his/her favorite. We let max all over the house and on our shoulders. He has never once tried to bit us. I could not think of not letting max on my shoulder, he/she loves it there. He loves to eat with us. He will yell ray's name until he gets some of our food. I mean you have to make him his own plate or he will tell you "more food". Cool hu. So if I were you i would trust my green cheek, they are very lovely birds. And I can't wait to hear what others have to say

Mine are quite tiny. According to my vet, their ideal weight is around 290 grams.

Max is beautiful! I'm so glad to see another GC! I post on 3 bird boards, and Max is only the 2nd other I've come across. I guess the GC's relatively calm personality really is a species characteristic.

Ever is totally happy on my shoulder...I think she'd live there if she could. In fact she will get a wee bit stressed if I don't let her up...and if she is stressed for any other reason, putting her up on my shoulder calms her down immediately...

...the drawback? She eats my shirts...

lol, max does that too along with grooming my hair (which is past my shoulders), hides in my hair, gives kisses, tries to clean out my nose (gross which I try not to let him do). But when I asked my aviarian vet (please excuse the spelling). She said this was a way for parrots to show their effection for their owners. I called a couple bird shops in the area ( I live in WV) and the woman who I buy my birds from and they all told me that GC's are not a common bird in the US because not too many people are aware of them. It is a shame because they are wonderful pets and very loving to their owners. I cant wait to hear more on your GC

...I can't say enough good stuff about Ever...she truly is a pumpkin! But she's definately an Amazon! Loud enough to wake the dead if she's of a mind to. She's not a biter, but will nip everyone but me hard enough to get them to back off - the downside being I'm the only one who can handle her without wrapping a towel around my hand first... , but with a towel, even my 10 year old son is able to put her in/out of her cage - which is nice, because I am away on business every once in a while.

And she's so happy to just sit on my shoulder and hang out with me no matter what I'm doing...I find it so relaxing and so amazing!

Do you have a picture of Ever,,,I would love to see him...Now my girls can hold max, but only if he is in the mood for them. He loves to just sit on his perch stand in the living room and watch everyone. But the moment everyone is out of the room he will start yelling for you to come back in or to get him. He hates to be alone. I should get his DNA test back by friday so I will let you know what max is.
