Smile New Member with OWA!

Hi everyone!
I just wanted to say HI! and introduce myself! I am a new owner of a baby OWA and I want to learn all I can about him/her! I have not had Cyd sexed yet but hope to do so soon! He/she is about 4 months old and really starting to explore the world!
I have had a cockatiel, parakeets, finches and a Quaker in the past, but really wanted to wait until my children were older to select a larger parrot. I am really happy with Cyd and look forward to a lifetime friendship.
If anyone can offer advice, suggestions, etc., I would love to hear from you!
Below are a few pictures of Cyd!
Thanks!
Donna

Welcome Donna and Cyd. He's so cute! Just ask whatever questions occur to you and we'll do our best to help out.

Congratulations on Cyd. I also had a few Amazons, and the OW being my favorite. Mine was so docile and was a wonderful girl. I adopted Polly and she was in her 30's when she passed on. I dont think any amazon I have crossed paths with since, can even hold a candle to her wonderful personality. You will be very happy with your little one, and make sure ya ask your questions to our amazon specialist in her OWN right....

Hey Lisa, is it possible you have me mixed up with Joanie Doss, who is a REAL Amazon expert? I'm just a lady who said "yes" a great number of times when people wanted to rehome 'zons with me -- much to my absolute delight. In any event, thanks for the compliment.

New Member with OWA!

Thanks for the welcome everyone! We just got Cyd's new cage together this weekend and he is spending his first night in there tonight! He really looks small in there even though I know he needs a large cage. He seems to like it and I put a cushion of papers in the bottom on top of the grate in case he should fall. He is pretty sure footed but I also put the perches down fairly low too since he is still a baby. I'll let you know how it goes! Thanks again for the welcome!
Donna

Experts come in all forms.......

Joanie,,,,
Expertise come from experience. The best Experts are the ones who live it and share it. It is everyday people who genuinly care for the species and offer there knowledge to other to help.....so........i meant you!

Cyd's mom...what ya might want to do is keep the perches very low and place towels under the paperliner to prevent any mishaps...

I am also a soon to be OWA mommy. I need to get the most information that I can. Are they very loud? Are they nippy? I dont really know alot about them, ive got another month to soak up some info. ;) I already know some things. Which brand of pellets is the best? Are playstands good when my baby will only be 4 months? Any comments will be greatly appreciated.
Ashlie
