Max is picking up new words

I am just so proud..my max (a GC amazon) who is 7 years old picked up a new phrase over the weekend and I wanted to share my joy. He started saying good boy (thank god that I have always called him a boy or he would be saying good girl when he is a boy lol). He has a pretty good size vocab now, but it just amazes me that still after all of this time he is still picking up words. Now we are working on I love Mom.

Your guy is still adding to his vocab, that is great just imagine how much he will know when he is 20 or so..it is amazing.

They are amazing creatures aren't they. Love them birds :)

I think my quaker said "love you" this morning to me as I walked out the door...he might have ~ but not sure about that sassy bird!!!

Congrats! I'm hoping Ever will say something, anything, that I can actually understand!

And the few words she does say clearly, well, she hardly ever says those!

Congrats!

Both of my talkers have limited vocabularies. They both came to be as older birds. While my sennie has learned a few more sounds, neither of them has picked up any other words, and I don't think they ever will. I love them just the same, but I have to admit I am jealous whenever someone announces that their bird has learned a new word or phrase :)

Way to go!!!

Congratulations. Like Outlaw says, "Birds are the only animals that can say I love you." I have an Amazon and he's learning Spanish first. I live in Mexico and my bird just loves to roll his rrr's. He's saying "Perro" (dog) and "Cotorro" (parrot). I'm sitting here with a clicker and a bag of seeds so I can reward him when he says them. He has a wide vocabulary of sounds but not a lot of words. Keep up the good work. Who knows maybe someday our parrots will be able to talk to each other over the computer.
Hugs and Parrot pecks to all,
Elena

thanks guys. sorry that I have not replied to you sooner, but been very busy learning to feed baby birds and so on. hey Rue have you tried playing a bird cd all day long for ever? I play one for max that repeats the whole cd over and over. it has over 120 words and phrases on it so that he does not get bord with it. plus it has taken a whole year for him to pick up that phrase. max is like ever he only talks when he wants and what he wants lol birds with attitudes right max mumbles alot too. I got him to mumble mo (for mom) a little last night. I don't know why but max is going to give me attention all of the time phase right now. I think that it is because he is multing and it feels good when I rub him down. he knows that I will only pick him up when he talks and not when he is doing his screaching. maybe that is why he picked up the new phrase. personally i dont care why he does it as long as he is doing it.
