Something happened this morning that I think illustrates really well the difference between male and female Amazons. As I was giving everyone fresh food and water, all of a sudden I noticed how that particular chore has evolved at Casa Amazona. With the female 'zons I stop, give head skritches and love on them before, during and after changing out the food and water. With the males the objective is to take care of the bird without getting bitten. This means making sure that, if my torso is in the cage, it's always my upper back and the back of my head that are toward the fids. These are all good birds, but the males simply have to be respected for what they are.
Actually, the more I live with 'zons the more I believe that DNA testing will only confirm what the parront actually knows. Male 'zons behave like young delinquents and female 'zons behave like "sugar and spice."
